Meet Posey

Hi! I'm Posey and I live with a little girl named Evie. She adopted me from Sew Loved Sock Monkeys and patiently waited for my arrival from the UK. As you can see from my picture, I am covered with little purple and pink flowers with the words Rett Syndrome Awareness on my tummy. I'm here to help raise awareness of Rett Syndrome (and be a companion for Evie).

What's Rett Syndrome you ask?

Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that primarily affects girls. It is caused by a single gene mutation that leads to underproduction of an important brain protein. Rett takes away their ability to walk, talk, and use their hands. Some girls, like Evie, also develop scoliosis and have seizures. They are at higher risk for Long QT (heart trouble) and respiratory infections (pneumonia). But, these are just a few of the things our girls deal with on a daily basis.

To hear more about Evie's story and learn about Rett Syndrome please visit her page at Girl Power 2 Cure (GP2C).

My mission is to raise awareness and help find a cure for Rett Syndrome. It is believed that Rett Syndrome is potentially reversible! Isn't that wonderful news!! Every day research is being conducted to help Rett Girls and their families. That's where you, dear readers, come into the picture. We need to raise awareness and funds for research.
